Circle Geometry Vocabulary Flashcards
Major Arc
The longer arc between to points on a circle
Minor arc
The shorter arc between 2 points (same points as major arc) on a circle
Central angle
The angle formed by joining the end points on an arc to the centre of the circle. Vertex is at the centre of the circle
Inscribed angle
The angle formed by joining the endpoints on an arc to a poing on the circle. Vertex is on the circle. In a circle, all inscribed angle that are subtended by the same arc are congruent.
Subtended angle
An angle made by a line, arc, or object
Perpendicular bisector
À line that cuts a chord in half, it must pass through the centre of the circle
Diameter
2 radius
Radius
Half of diameter
Arc
Section of a circle on the circonférence
Inscribed polygon
A polygon whose vertices lie on a circle
Secant
Line that passes through 2 points of the circle but does not stop on the circonférence
Point of tangency
Circle and tangent share this point
Tangent
Line that touches the circle ate only one point
Pythagorean Theorem
a2+b2=hypothalamus2
Straight angle
Angle with degree of 180
