Shot from a distance to establish a scene/ setting
The long shot
Used to direct the viewer to a crucial detail.
Close up shot
See character from the waist up. Naturalistic and most common
Medium shot
Creates a sense of power
Low angle
Used to make the subjects weak, small, or powerful
High angle
As if it is a human actually observing a scene. Actor is head on.
Eye level angle
Subject appears sideways. Used to create tension
Dutch angle
Pivots along a horizontal axis. Usually from left to right
Pan shot
Pivots along a vertical axis. Up and down.
Tilt shot
Directs viewers attention to add detail the director doesn’t want you to miss
Zoom shot
Moves with the action of the scene. Allows viewer to be part of the action
Tracking/ dolly shot
Shadows, darkness, to create mood of suspicion
Low key lighting
Brightness, openness, and lack of shadows. Usually see in rom coms
High key lighting
Even and balanced. See. In most programs
Neutral lighting
Under the chin or side of face. Make the figure look usual or scary.
