Richmond refers to sleep as imperative for success - therefore when Richard’s sleep is disrupted by the angry ghosts of his past crimes and Richmond’s is basically blessed by the ghosts he says he has had the ‘sweetest sleep.’ (page 217).

Richmond tells his men to sound the trumpets and drums and then exclaims ‘God and Saint George, Richmond and victory!’ (page 219).

Stanley says he has ‘plucked off,’ the ‘dead temples of this bloody wretch.’ for Richmond to wear (page 225).

Richmond tells Stanley to ‘Proclaim a pardon to the soldiers fled,’ so long as they accept him as king (page 227).

Richmond says that ‘smooth faced peace,’ will come. Contrasts to Act 1 Scene 1 where Richard insinuates that Edward is cowardly for bringing peace (page 227).
