A doctrine is an authoritative group of beliefs about God and related concepts.
What are two ordinances of the church?
Two ordinances of the church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
What kind of ordinance is baptism?
Baptism is an ordinance of obedience.
What kind of ordinance is The Lord’s Supper?
The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of remembrance.
What are the items used in administering the Lord’s Supper?
The items used in administering the Lord’s Supper are bread, which is symbolic of Christ’s broken body and wine which is symbolic of His shed blood.
Why do we baptize by immersion?
Throughout Biblical history baptsim was done in bodies of water and we baptize in the same manner as Christ.
Why do we baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost?
The three are one. Christ commanded that we baptize in this manner.
What word proves to us that Jesus commanded baptism by immersion?
The word baptizo proves to us that Jesus commanded baptism by immersion because baptize means to immerse.
How did the concept of sprinkling come about?
Sprinkling also know as aspersion began because of the inability to immerse those who were weak, sick, or physically unable to be immersed.
Explain the seeming contradiction between Peter’s command and Jesus’ command concerning baptism.
The seeming contradiction of Jesus and Peter’s command concerning Baptism was because Jesus said to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost and Peter said to be baptized in the name of Jesus. Peter was emphasizing that Jesus was the Son of God in which Jesus earlier referred to.
What should be said at baptism?
At the baptism we should say “In obedience to the great commission an upon the confession of your faith I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
