Q

book of exodus

A

the book of exodus is the second book of the bible. it is a narrative of the exodus, the original myth of the israelites leaving slavery in Biblical Egypt through the strength of their deity named Yahweh (hebrew name for God, NOT JESUS). The israelites then journey with the legendary prophet Moses to Mount Sinai, where Yahweh gives the 10 commandments and they enter into a covenant with Yahweh who promises to make them a ’holy nation, and a kingdom of priests’ on the condition of their faithfulness.

Q

the gospel of matthew

A

matthew is the first gospel of the four. this gospel was written for people familiar with the OT, both the laws of moses and the prophets. matthew makes more references to the OT than any other gospel.

matthew takes great care to show how jesus fulfills the prophecies made about him earlier in the Bible- especially focusing on Jesus’ role as the Messiah.

his opening verse makes it clear what the book is about: Jesus the Messiah, the son of David and the son of Abraham.
