What is omnipotence?
Omnipotence is to be all powerful e.g. Christians believe God created the world in 6 days.
What does the word omniscient mean?
Omniscient means to be all-seeing and all-knowing e.g. Christians believe that God knows everyone’s past, present and future to judge you at the end of time.
What does benevolent mean?
Benevolent means to be all - loving e.g.God sacrificed his only son and created a beautiful Earth.
What does Just mean?
Fair as in justice e.g. both Heaven and Hell exist - that’s fair
What is the Holy Trinity?
A belief in Christianity about one God who has 3 elements; The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Describe the belief of the Father in the Holy Trinity
God is referred to as the Father as he created the world and us.
Describe the belief of the Son in the Holy Trinity
God came to Earth in the form of his son - Jesus.
Describe the belief of the Holy Spirit in the Holy Trinity
The Holy Spirit is the part of God that works within the world.
What is the meaning of the Story ‘Jesus calms the sea’?
It shows that God is omniscient and benevolent but Jesus’ is just as powerful as him and is able to calm very stormy waters and walk on water. He is fully human but also fully God.
What is moral evil?
This is a term given to suffering inflicted by people, on each other, for example murder or rape.
What is the The Inconsistent Triad?
The Inconsistent Triad is a philosophical argument, which shows God cannot be both omnipotent and omnibenevolent while evil exists
What is Natural evil?
This is a term given to suffering caused by nature e.g. hurricanes or tsunamis.
Why would God allow evil?
Christians believe that God would allow evil as a test of faith, to see if you are worthy for Heaven.
