Messiah:
A King/saviour. For Christians this is Jesus who will usher in the Kingdom of God.
Atonement:
To make amends for; to put humanity in a right relationship with God. God and humanity had been
apart due to the sin of Adam and Eve.

Nature miracle:
Healing miracle:
An event / action that breaks the laws of nature.
Jesus makes people better; it’s one of the signs Jesus came from God, the one who makes all things and can repair them
-Was Jesus a good teacher?-
Parable:
Analogy:
A story with a simple point of teaching. A story which uses the things of everyday life.
When you compare one thing to another thing in order to explain/clarify a point.
-Death and Resurrection-
Resurrection:
Ascension:
Coming back to life after death, dying, then rising. It can refer to the resurrection of Jesus and also to the resurrection of souls of people at death and at the end of the world. Some believe it is the soul and others believe it is the body which rises from the dead.
This is Jesus’ departure from Earth into the presence of God in heaven. Christians believe this happened 40 days after his resurrection.
Denominations:
the name for branch of the Christian church sharing a common identity, practices and set of
beliefs. E.g. Roman Catholic, Methodist.
Roman Catholic Church:
Largest Christian group, 1.3 billion members. They believe the Pope is the successor to St
Pater. The Pope lives in the Vatican. They believe there are seven sacraments.
Anglican: Church of England
Archbishop of Canterbury, Bread and wine is a symbol of the body and blood of Christ.
Roman Catholic:
Pope, bread and wine turns into the body and blood of Christ. Has statues of the Virgin Mary
Orthodox:
Patriarchs, iconoclasts screen, icons, bread and wine fed on spoon
Methodists:
Ministers, simple worship and church
