What is meaning of Church (building) for Christians?
a) The church building as a centre for Christian worship and as the centre of the Christian community.
b) The church as the people/community as well as the building.
What is the Altar?
a) Altar is the table in a Christian church at which the bread and wine are consecrated in communion services.
Why is the Altar important?
a) Altar is important because it represents the presence of Christ during the ceremony.

a) The altar is essential in Catholicism and orthodox churches because of its connection to the Eucharist.

What is the Sanctuary?
it is the holy area in a church, the part of the chancel of a church containing the high altar.
The sanctuary is the area at the front of the church where the altar and cross are located.
Why is the sanctuary important?
because because of the belief in the physical presence of God in the Eucharist, both during the Mass and in the church tabernacle at other times.

the sanctuary is important in Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, and Anglican churches because of its connection of Eucharist.
what is lectern?
It is reading stand.
the lectern is a tall stand with a sloping top to hold a book or notes, from which someone, typically a preacher or lecturer, can read while standing up.
what is pulpit?
it is a raised enclosed platform in a church or chapel from which the preacher delivers a sermon.
why is pulpit important?
This is to symbolise the proclamation of the Word of God as the central focus of the weekly service of worship.

In protestant churches, the pulpit is important because they focus on scripture more than sacrament.
what is Baptistery?
a) pool for total immersion

crucifix is a cross withe the figure or image of the crucified Jesus on it.

paten is a shallow dish or small plate for the bread at the eucharist.
Chalice is a standing cup used to hold sacramental wine during the Eucharist.
