What is liturgical worship
A set followed worship /ritualistic worship
What is non liturgical worship
A worship with no set structure, usually for informal and personal, songs and collective prayers
What is a sacrament?
A rite or ritual from which the believer receives a special gift of grace.
What does baptism involve?
Baptism involves the use of water as a symbol of washing away the sins carried by the believers.
What does infant baptism involve
The freeing of original sin from the baby by blessing them with holy water and asking gods forgiveness for the baby, and requesting the parents and godparents help in pointing the child on the line or path of grace
What believers baptism involve?
The initiation to church by immersion of water, but only to people old enough to understand the ceremony and who wish to live the Christian’s life
What is holy communion?
A service of thanksgiving of which the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ is celebrated in the eating of bread and wine
The role and importance of festivals
Reminds Christian’s or believers of their virtues and vows to god through remembrance of significant parts of Jesus life e.g. Christmas or Easter
Why Christian’s go on pilgrimage?
Grow closer to god and strengthen their faith
Express sorrow for sin and to be forgiven
Seek a cure for an illness
Experience a holy place
Why is Lourdes special to Christian’s
The virgin Mary told a young nun how to find a blessed spring with healing properties
Why is Iona so special to Christian’s
It was the place of residence for a small momentary dedicated to the holy mother Mary
