Definition of Sacrament
A
•rite of passage or ceremony where grace and power of god can be received .recognise important milestones in Christians life

Different views of sacraments:
A
- Protestant-recognise two sacraments: baptism and Eucharist
- non conformist churches recognise two Sacraments but some don’t
- catholics recognise seven sacraments:baptism,confirmation,penance and reconciliation,Eucharist,ordination,marriage and anointing of the sick

Infant baptism:
A
- baby baptised in belief that it will cleanse child from original sin
- parents and godparents make promises on behalf of the child
- sign of cross is made on baby’s forehead and water poured on head
- lighted candle is given to represent light of jesus

Adult / believes baptism
A
- Non conformist (baptist church) prefer adult baptism as they feel only an adult can fully make the choice of belonging to church
- each candidate is asked questions about faith and makes personal testimony about why they want to be Christian
- baptised through full immersion

Eucharist and meaning
A
- Eucharist is re enactment of last supper that jesus shared with disciples
- bread represents body and wine blood
- catholics believe in transubstantion - bread and wine becoming jesus
- Protestants accept it as symbolic
