John Ray Initiative (JRI)
An education charity
Aims to merge scientific understanding with Christian understanding of the environment so that it can be widely communicated and lead to effective actions
Understands the urgency of the global development crisis and the challenges of sustainable development and environmental stewardship
Living Witness
Concerned with climate change and lack of action
Connect spiritual worship with their ‘witnesses’ for a sustainable earth
Believe Quakers have a particular contribution to make in responding to climate change and other sustainability challenges
They support communities, groups and individuals by running courses and events and raise awareness by publishing resources and using their website online
They communicate with governments by engaging in political policies
Eco-Congregation
Eco-Congregation is a platform for which churches can begin to address environmental issues. It is suitable for all denominations of Christianity
Churches are encouraged to focus on three main aspects of Church life; spiritual (worship and teaching); practical (buildings, land and church)and mission (reaching out to the local and global community)
A Rocha
Relies on the international cross-cultural strength of the Christian community to protect biodiversity and ensure a sustainable future
They specifically focus on nature conservation
Their movement stems from Christian values, emphasising the idea that humans are caring for God’s creation during their time on earth
They focus on five principles: Christian; Conservation; Community; Cross-cultural; Cooperation
They use scientific research, community conservation and environmental education to carry out their work
