  • the free will defence: moral evil is caused by humans as god has given us free will, st augustine said “a runaway horse is better than a stone”
  • john hick said that evil and suffering are a part of god’s plan, we would not be able to perform the good deeds without evil and suffering, it is needed for spiritual growth “suffering produces pereverance”
