CHRA Flashcards
1
Q
Challenges in CHRA
A
- Reliable data sources
- Competent assessors
- Integrity of SDS
- Reliable exposure determination
- Integrity of CHRA report
2
Q
Competent Assessor
A
- Assessing chemicals released from processes or work activities
- Good working knowledge on toxicology and chemistry
- Good knowledge on production processes or chemical reactions
- Willingness to learn?
- Full fledge hygienists?
3
Q
Integrity of SDS
A
- Common non-compliance of SDS:
- Various SDS sections not meeting the minimum legal requirements,
- Incorrect product classification, and
- Inconsistent hazard information
- References to data sources
4
Q
Reassessment
A
- If there has been a significant change in the work that could affect the outcome of the assessment;
- New or improved control measures are implemented where the chemical risk assessor should be engaged to reassess the exposure and control on the affected work units;
- More than five years have elapsed since the last assessment; or
- Directed by the Director General, Deputy Director General or the Director of OSH
- Reassessment rather than reviewing assessment
5
Q
Assessment Strategies
A
- Full Assessment
2.Simple Assessment
6
Q
- Full Assessment
A
- First approach
- Conducted for each and every workplace where CHTH are used Generic CHRA
- Full assessment done at representative locations which maybe applied to all other locations in which the work activities are similar, with comparable level of risk, and similar control measures
7
Q
2.Simple Assessment
A
- A simplified methodology to be used by non-competent
- Person to assess risk for certain chemicals and work situations
8
Q
Assessment concluded based on the level of risk and the adequacy of existing control measures:
A
- High risk and adequately control
- High risk and inadequately control
- Moderate risk and adequately control
- Moderate risk and inadequately control
- Low risk and adequately control
- Low risk and inadequately control
