Stare decisis

Senatorial courtesy
a custom whereby presidential appointments are confirmed only if there is no objection to them by the senators from the appointee’s state, especially from the senior senator of the president’s party from that state.
Writ of certiorari
It includes a list of the parties, a statement of the facts of the case, the legal questions presented for review, and arguments as to why the Court should grant the writ. Writ of Certiorari. A decision by the Supreme Court to hear an appeal from a lower court. Cert
Rule of four
In order for a case to be heard at least 4 justices must vote to hear it
