-Improvement in communication technology also made communication between people in different locations faster and more convenient

For example,

  • people across the globe communicate via telephone and fax.
  • Satellite technology also enabled people to send messages from one location and receive it in another part of the world almost simultaneously.
  • Advanced communication such as the internet and the smartphone enabled consumers to access information on places and product across the world through messaging and video call.

Hence, the internet and the smartphone have changed the way we communicate, conduct business, obtain information, and purchase goods and services

It is
Because
- such improvements increases the speed in the movement of people and goods from one country to another
- in the way, the world has become more connected

For example

  • commercial jet airplane and large ocean-going vessels and containerisation haves reduced the time and cost of transporting people and goods over Long distances
  • this have greatly simplified the transfer of goods from one mode of transport to another as containers can be easily transferred from ships to trucks

  • this all contributed into the world being more connected as countries continue to improve transportation

It is
Because
-they act as a ‘nerve system’ that connects the world economy through their global span of operations which also increases the economic interconnection between goods and the people.
-these interconnections also lead to the interdependent relationship between The parties involved in the operations of the MNCs
-foreign owned MNCs brought in many benefits to Singapore like hire wages and newer technology to keep Singapore competitive

For example

  • the pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, Novartis and Roche, collaborated with local institution in Singapore to conduct R&D to improve healthcare
  • in turn, MNCs benefited from Singapore’s pro business environment governed by rule of law
