Chpt 76 principles of muscle-tendon and transfers Flashcards
1
Q
paratenon vs synovial sheath
A
straight course : loose elastic areolar tissue: paratenon
synovial sheath: tendon rounds a corner, changes direction, or passes under ligamentous structures - it is surrounded by tendon sheath as it acts as a pulley
2
Q
tendon blood supply source
A
- central vessels from muscle belly
- periosteum/bone
- most blood supply comes from paratenon or meostenon entering by way of hilus
3
Q
stages of tendon healing
A
- inflammatory phase (48-72 hrs)
- fibroblastic (Formative phase) ~5 days-inasmuch as collagen fibers are formed in a random disorganized pattern
3rd phase: remodeling/organizational phase of maturation and differentiation: 15-28 days as new collagen begins to align itself with tendon
