click transform tools- then click and drag anywhere on the art board- double click the transform tool- click transform tool then click the artboard- click transform tool- press alt then click artboard
free transform
apply an 8 handled bounding box to selected image
transform panel
displays info about the size, orientation, and location of one or more selected objects
x and y coordinates
indicate objects horizontal (x) and vertical (y) locations on artboard
shear tool
hidden behind the scale tool- shears at an angle
concentric
refers to objects that share the same center point
outline stroke command
converts a stroked path into a closed path that is the same width as the original stroked path
compound shape
two or more paths that are combined in such a way the “holes” appear where ever paths overlap
Pathfinders
group of presets operations that help you combine paths in a variety of ways
add a shape area
converts two or more overlapping objects into a single merged object
subtract from shape area
where objects overlap
intersect shape area
creates a single merged objects from the area where two or more objects interlap
Minus back
the opposite of subtract: deletes the backmost object from the frontmost object
Divide
divides an object into its component filled faces
transformation
when you change an objects size, shape or position one the artboard
Transformation tools
rotate, scale, reflect, shear, and free transform tools
reflect
flips object across acts- good for tracing symmetrical objects like a spoon
shear
skews or distorts and object- good for depth
transform each
good for transforming multiple objects individually
offset path command
creates a copy of a selected path set off by a specific distance
pathfinders
are good for creating complex or irregular shapes from basic shapes
align panel
offers a quick and simple solution for aligning selected objects along the axis you specify
Clipping mask
in object menu: window through which you view some or all of the objects behind the mask in stacking order- like putting a picture inside text
