Q

Definition:The Registry Framework

A

The Registry Framework exists in Chronicles. Registries are designed for managing populations of patients. Each registry effectively collects information (metrics) about an element of a population ‐ typically a patient.Registries are defined by records in the HFR master file, and the data is stored in the RDT master file.(2.11,pg26)

Definition:The Metric Framework

A

The Metric Framework exists in Chronicles. It collects data from the three Epic databases and brings that information back, compiled and aggregated, at different summary levels and time periods. Metrics are defined in the IDN master file and the data is stored in the CSF master file.(2.11,pg26)

What are Cubes?

A

An OLAP (online analytical processing) cube is a copy of data that has been pre‐aggregated into a specific format for speed. This tool is great for users who want to manipulate the data in Excel; it is very similar to a large pivot table.)(2.11,pg27)

Q

Definition:Reporting Workbench

A

Reporting Workbench is the operational reporting tool that analysts and end‐users use to provide real‐ time, actionable reports. Reporting Workbench reports are written from Reporting Workbench templates. Templates are similar to SlicerDicer data models, they define the available data a particular report can search and return(2.13,pg29-30)

A

17
Q

Describe the data lineage of Epic data that ultimately resides in Caboodle?

A

The data is entered into Chronicles, extracted to Clarity, and then extracted from Clarity to Caboodle.(pg 39/2.23)

18
Q

Is it possible to load external data into Caboodle?

A

Yes(pg 39/2.23)

19
Q

What is the difference between the reporting capabilities of Chronicles vs. Clarity and Caboodle?

A

Chronicles captures real‐time data. Clarity and Caboodle allow you to efficiently query large sets of data.(pg 39/2.23)

20
Q

Why should you use Caboodle or Clarity for large scale reporting needs?

A

SQL reports can be run over very large data sets without slowing down your production server. They also can include complex grouping and mathematics, and can be used to do integrated reporting on Epic and non‐Epic data.(pg 39/2.23)

21
Q

Why don’t Caboodle or Clarity contain real‐time information?

A

Caboodle and Clarity data needs to be brought across by an ETL process, and is not real‐time.(pg 39/2.23)

22
Q

You have a reporting need, and there is no pre‐built application report to meet it. Do you need to use a report built off of Caboodle or Clarity data to meet this need?

A

Not necessarily. Reporting Workbench can be used for many non‐standard reporting needs(pg 39/2.23)

23
Q
