Cholinergic Drugs Flashcards
Which drug interferes with ach synthesis?
Hemicholium
Which drug interferes with storage of ach?
Cabachol
What does botulinus toxin interfere with?
It interferes with ach release
What are the types of muscarinic receptors?
M1 - M5
What is the mechanism of action of M1, M3 and M5 agonist?
_They are G protein coupled.
_They activate phospholipase C
_Phospholipase C hydrolyses P1P2 into diacyl glycerol and inositol 1,4 bisphosphate.
_IP3 causes release of intracellular calcium which causes more calcium release.
_This can cause contraction of smooth muscles.
What is the MOA of M2 and M4 agonists?
Inhibition of adenyl cyclase activity.
What are examples of choline esters?
Ach, cabachol
What are examples of naturally occurring alkaloids?
Pilocarpine, Oxotremorine
Which drugs are under quantamery and bisquantamery amines?
Ediophonium, demecarium
Carbamates?
Neostigmine, physiostigmine
Organophosphate?
Isoflorophate, parathion
What are the uses of anti cholinesterases?
Used in treatment of
_Strabismus
_Glaucoma
_Smooth muscle atony
_Myesthenia gravis
What drugs are used in treatment of anti cholinesterase poisoning?
Atropine, to reduce absorption.
Pyridoxine chloride, to reactivate acetylcholinesterase enzyme.
Examples of anti muscarinic drugs are?
Atropine, benzotropine, hyosine.
