Bankroll
A player’s cash and chips
Buy-in
To buy chips at a table
The amount a player bought in for
Cash Chips
Also known as value chips they are chips with the value marked on them and can be used at any table in the casino
Cage
The location of the casino cashier
Chip Purchase Voucher (CPV)
Known as CPVs and used instead of cash by guests similar to having a cheque account with a bank except the CPVs are issued individually by the cage or at the gaming table
Chip Tray
A perspex tray tray divided into tubes that will fit five stacks of chips
Chips
Plastic circular tokens used for placing bets
There are five types of chips: value or cash, non-value or colour, non-negotiable, premium and tournament chips
Chip Cover
A clear perspex device used to cover the higher denomination chips in the float
Closer
Original and duplicate of the opener/closer upon which the table inventory is recorded at the end of each trading day
Colour Change
An exchange of chips for colour chips or for chips of a different denomination
Colour Chips (non-value chips)
Chips of a specific colour and design.
Issued to a player so that the player’s bets are not confused with another player’s bets
Colour chips are only valid on the table they are purchased from.
The customer may nominate the value of the chips
Credit
Chips taken from the table and sent to the fill bank
Dirty stack
Stack or short stack of chips that has a different colour or denomination chips in it
Drop
The total of all money and vouchers that is in the drop box on a table
Drop Box
Secure container into which shall be deposited all cash, CPVs, approved gaming documents, fill slips, credit slips, table inventory slips and pit error notification slips
