Birth
Hep B (must be within 7 days of birth)
2 months
2 injections, and oral drops
DTP: Diptheria (bullneck thing), tetanus, pertussis (whooping)
Hib: Haemophilus influenza type B (epiglottitis - emergency req intubation)
Hep B
Polio
Pneumococcus
Rotavirus (common cause diarrhoea amongst infants and small children)
6 months
2 injections and oral drops
DTP: Diptheria, tentatun, pertussis (whooping) Hib: Haemophilus influenza Polio Pneumococcus Hep B (or at 12 months) Rotavirus
12 months
2 injections
MMR: Measles, mumps, rubella
Hib
Meningococcus C
Hep B (or at 6 months)
18 months
1 injection
Varicella (chicken pox)
Pneumococcus
4 years
2 injections
DTP: Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis
MMR: measles, mumps, rubella
Polio
Grade 7 (or 12-13 yo)
1 injection
HPV
15-17
1 injection
Adult diptheria and tetanus
Side effects of vaccinations?
Local - red, sore (normal), possibly infection
Systemic - may get slight fever, malaise afterwards
(can give paracetamol)
Allergy - anaphylaxis. V rare, but can be managed in doctor’s office if this occurs.
