What is Nativism?
A way of thinking where you believe mental structures were given from birth
They are innate
What is Behaviourism?
A way of thinking where you believe all learning takes place through ‘conditioning’
What is the LAD?
The Language Acquisition Device- children have the innate ability to extract the rules underlying language from words they hear being spoken around them
INPUT- LAD- OUTPUT (primary linguistic data- general language learning principles- grammatical knowledge rules- child’s speech)
