Describe rooting reflex
When a baby’s cheek is touched, they turn their head and open their mouth, seeking to suck. -
What is the p0urpose of rooting reflex?
Facilitates breastfeeding by helping the baby find the nipple.
Describe the Moro Reflex
In response to a sudden loss of support or a loud noise, the baby spreads their arms, arches their back, and then brings their arms together. -
What is the purpose of the moro relex?
May have evolved as a response to a perceived threat, helping the infant cling to the caregiver.
Describe Grasp Reflex
When an object is placed in a baby’s palm or sole of the foot, they automatically grasp it.
-What is the Purpose of A survival mechanism,
possibly preparing the baby to hold onto their caregiver.
Describe the Babinski Reflex
When the sole of the foot is stroked, the baby’s toes fan out and then curl.
What is the Purpose of the Babinski reflex?
The reflex is thought to be part of the primitive walking reflex and may disappear as the baby begins to walk.
