Chief Pilot Part 141 School Flashcards
What privilege does examining authority give a pilot school over a school without examining authority?
141.65 - A pilot school that holds examining authority may recommend a person who graduated from its course for the appropriate pilot, flight instructor or ground instructor certificate or rating without taking the FAA knowledge test or practical test.
How much credit, if any, may be transferred from one 141 approved school to another 141 school if the transfer is into a course with examining authority?
141.67 (B) (1) - The maximum credited training time does not exceed 50% of the receiving school’s curriculum requirements.
Certain record keeping requirements are associated with examining authority. How long must these records be retained?.
141.67 (E) (3) - The records required must be retained for 1 year and made available to the administrator upon request.
Exercise: A pilot school has two courses for which examining authority is requested. One course is Private Pilot ASEL, the other is a reduced time Private Pilot Rotorcraft-Helicopter course. The school has held both courses for 37 months. Within the past 12 months, 11 students have graduated from the ASEL course and 12 have graduated from the Rotorcraft-Helicopter course. 94% percent of the graduates from each course passed the practical test on the first attempt. Do these courses meet the requirements for the examining authority?.
141.55 (E) (4) - The ASEL course meets the requirements. The rotorcraft helicopter course does not meet the requirements to request a reduced time training course for examining authority.
Only schools with examining authority may have ACR’s (Airman Certification Representatives). T or F?
TRUE - 8900.1 Vol 15 Chapter 12 Section 3 - Only 141 examining authority schools may apply.
What is the ACR service?
An Airman Certification Representative (ACR) is an individual representing a specific FIRC sponsor who is authorized to accept FAA applications for renewal of valid flight instructor certificates from successful graduates of that sponsor’s program and to issue temporary flight instructor certificates. For your convenience, our ACR can accept your application via IACRA or through the mail and issue you a temporary certificate
AIRMAN CERTIFICATION REPRESENTATIVE (ACR) tasks: DUTIES?
An ACR for an FAA-approved school completes the temporary airman certificates after the chief flight instructor has determined that a student has successfully completed all required stage tests for a particular course.
AIRMAN CERTIFICATION REPRESENTATIVE (ACR) tasks: LIMITATIONS?
1) ACRs do not conduct practical tests of candidates.
2) An ACR must be an employee of the pilot school requesting the ACR designation.
3) An ACR may not be an employee of more than one pilot school.
4) An ACR may not accept a part 141 graduation certificate and will not issue a
temporary pilot certificate to an applicant who has a Statement of Demonstrated Ability (SODA), unless an aviation safety inspector (ASI) from the jurisdictional Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) has clearly determined that no operational limitations are required to be placed on that certificate.
AIRMAN CERTIFICATION REPRESENTATIVE (ACR) INITIATION
Only holders of flight test examining authority under part 141, subpart D may request an ACR designation. The pilot school may initiate designation for an owner, corporate officer, partner, or other responsible employee of the company who meets the qualifications. The pilot school must submit FAA Form 8710-6, Examiner Designation/Qualification Record, when requesting an ACR. This form is the same as the form used for designated pilot examiners (DPE).
