Q

Assumptions in Parametric Testing

A

A. The collected data is assumed to follow a normal
distribution (as collected by simple random sampling)
B. If 𝒙̅ and s are known and the distribution follows a normal curve, then there is a chance that future values of the variable can be known.
C. Use a non-parametric test, if the collected data is not
assumed to follow a normal distribution

Q

Most widely used in hypothesis testing (assumes H0 is true, and that we should not reject it)

  1. To test for goodness of fit (whether the observed sample frequencies differ significantly from expected frequencies)
  2. To determine significant association between two categorical variables from a single population
