Chi Square Flashcards
When would you use a chi square test?
When analysing counts from multiple categories by comparing expected from observed.
What two different ways can you use a chi square test?
1) Generate expected values for the categories in your data
2) Compare observed data to the expected values
What is the chi square statistic?
Compare observed and expected values
In a chi square test when would you reject the null hypothesis?
If the difference between observed and expected values is big.
What are the assumptions of the chi square test?
1) Data in independant
2) Data is randomly sampled
3) No observed values = 0
4) Over 80% of expected values are above 5.
How do you calculate chi square value?
Observed - expected divided by expected for all values and then add all the answers.
How would you calculate degrees of freedom?
Sample size - 1
