The general treatment for any chest problems/ trauma, are 5 main things.
1- chest tube
2- chest xray
3- give oxygen
4- ventilation
5- elevate the head of the bed
hemothorax is when___
blood has accumulated in the pleural space
pneumothorax is when__
air has accumulated in the pleural space
when a patient has a hemo or pneumothorax, what has happened to the lungs?
collapsed (atelectasis)
if you have a hemothorax, are you gonna hear breath sounds on the affected side?

with pneumothorax patients, they can develop sub-q air. what will it sound like?
crepitus (like rice crispies)
