Explain how soundwaves are caused
When sound travels through the air they vibrate particles which vibrate other particles making sound
What is a tranverse wave?
A wave that particles vibrate up and down e.x. water waves, light waves
What is a longitudinal wave?
A wave that particles vibrate side to side e.x.sound waves, longitudinal waves
What is amplitude?
It shows volume, how quiet or loud the wave is
What is the crest?
Highest point of the sound wave
What is the trough?
The lowest point in a sound wave
What does wavelength show?
Frequency(Hz) How high or low the pitch is
What is the equilibrium?
The line in the middle of the soundwaves
What is frequency measured in?
Hertz(Hz)
How do you measure wave speeds?
Distance = speed x time
Speed = Distance ÷ Time
Time = Distance ÷ Speed
What are properties of electromagnetic waves?
- All of them travel at speed of light
- Travel at 300,000,000 m/s
- All of them are transverse waves
