Chemistry Chapter 1 Review Part 2 Flashcards
What are physical properties?
Properties that are not changing the identity of the substance
What are chemical properties?
Properties where the substance has the ability to undergo change into something new
What are physical changes?
Changes in a substance that do not change the identity
What is exothermic?
Heat releasing/releases
What is endothermic?
Cold
What are the states of matter?
Solid, liquid, and gas
What are the properties of a solid?
Low energy, high density, rigid, definite shape, definite volume, and not compressible
What are the properties of a liquid?
Middle energy, fluid, no definite shape, definite volume, not compressible, and high density
What are the properties of a gas?
Fluid, high energy, low density, no definite shape, no definite volume, and compressible
What can be separated physically and what can be separated chemically?
Physically: Mixtures
Chemically: Elements and compounds
What are the main groups of elements?
