Chemistry Flashcards
Qualitative-
Quantitative-
Qualitative- is something to do with colour
Quantitative- is something to do with numbers
What is solidification?
Freezing. When liquid freezes into a solid
What is sublimation?
Solid turns into gas
What is deposition?
When gas turns into a solid
What is O
2
Oxygen
What is H
2
Hydrogen
What is O
3
Ozone
What is S
8
Sulfur
What is H O
2
Water
What is CH
4
Methane
What is NH
3
Ammonia
What is CO
Carbon monoxide
What is Combustion Reaction?
Something that has the ability to burn.
What is oxidation reaction?
No flame appears
CH4 + O2 = CO2 + H2O
Methane + Oxygen = Carbon dioxide + Water
Iron + oxygen = ironoxide
Fe + O2 = Fe2O3
What is Lithium’s symbol?
Li
What is sodium’s symbol?
Na
What is phosphorus’ symbol?
P
What is iron’s symbol?
Fe
What is potassium’s symbol?
K
What is hydrochloric acid’s symbol
Hcł
What is particle theory?
Substances that are made up of particles.
Particles are always in motion.
Forces of attraction in between particles.
Empty space between particles.
For example,
Solid to liquid- motion increases, seperate, expansion, weaker attraction and forces.
What are the three types of mixtures?
Homogeneous- you can’t see the different components
Heterogenous- you can see components without a microscope.
Colloids- looks like a homogenous but components can be seen through a microscope.
