What important physiologic state causes a consitutively activated ALP?
What common things will elevate serum GGT besides cholestasis?
A
ALP - elevated in teenages, and kids because of high bone turnover.
GGT will be elevated in alcohol consumption and many medications (any that induces microsomal enzymes)

How do you diagnose Zollinger Ellsion syndrome?
A
Best is to measure fasting serum gastrin (it should be low unless you are eating)
Also a secretin-stim test can be done, and an increase of > 200 pg / ml is diagnostic (this is the most sensitive provocative test)
