Chemistry Flashcards
What is the Collisions theory
For a chemical reaction to occur, the particles must collide with one another
What are the 6 types of chemical reactions?
Synthesis, Combustion, Single displacement, double displacement, Decomposition, Neutralization
What happens in synthesis?
A+B= AB
What happens in combustion?
Reaction of a substance with Oxygen to produce Oxydes, Light, and Heat.
What happens in Decomposition?
One composite turns into 2 elements. AB=A+B
What happens in Single displacement?
Cations remplacent Cations, Anions remplacent Anions. A+BC=B+AC
What happens in Double Displacement?
Change de cations. AB+CD=CB+AD
What happens in neutralization?
When an acid and base react and make water and salt
What is an Acid?
A substance that produces Hydrogen in a solution.
What is a Base?
A substance that produces Hydroxyde in a solution.
What is a Salt?
The result of a reaction between an Acid and a Base
Characteristics of a chemical reaction
Change of colour, smell, and energy. Gas and Precipities are formed. Really hard or impossible to reverse.
What does “Polyvalent” mean?
2 or more charges
Liaison Ionique
1 metal et un non-metal, Électrons sont transferés, et ajoutés ou perdus
Liaison Covalente
2 Non-métaux, électrons sont partagées
