Chemical Equilibrium Flashcards
What is meant by chemical equilibrium?
It is the state in which the rate of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of the reverse reaction
State Le Châtelier’s Principle
When a system at equilibrium is subject to stress, the position of the equilibrium will change to minimise the effect of the stress
What happens when you increase the pressure?
Goes to the side with a lower number of molecules
What happens when you decrease the pressure?
Goes to the side with a higher number of molecules
What happens when you increase the temperature?
Goes in the endothermic direction
What happens when you decrease the temperature?
Goes in the exothermic direction
What type of reaction is: -KJ value?
Exothermic
What type of reaction is: +KJ value?
Endothermic
