Chemical Equilibrium Flashcards
What happens if Concentration of a reactant is increased?
Forward reaction will befavored
What happens when Decreasing the concentration of a product?
Forward reaction will befavored
What happens when The reverse reaction isfavored?
Concentration of a product isincreasedor concentration of a reactant is decreased.
How does pressure effect the system?
Increase in pressure = Forward reaction becomes favored
Decrease in pressure = Reverse reaction becomes favored
What does temp change for exothermic mean?
Decrease: Favors products
Increase: Favors reactents
What does temp change for endothermic mean?
Decrease: Favors reactents
Increase: Favors products
What is the test for alkenes?
We test for alkenes using bromine water which is orange. If the alkene is shook with bromine water then the bromine water turns colorless.
What is collision theory?
States that chemical reactions occur only when the reactant particles collide with sufficient energy to react.
