chemical equilibria Flashcards
1
Q
Define dynamic equilibrium
A
state of a reversible process at which the rates of forward and backwards reactions are equal, but not zero
2
Q
Define le chatelier’s principle
A
states that if a dynamic equilibrium is subjected to a change that disturbs the equilibrium, the position of equilibrium will counteract the change to re-establish the equilibrium
3
Q
Why low temperature is avoided for dynamic equilibrium?
A
reacting particles need sufficient energy to result in effective collisions among them to form products (NH3) & uneconomical
4
Q
Why high pressure is avoided for dynamic equilibrium?
A
cost of production will increase since equipment used need to withstand high pressure
