Chemical Change Flashcards
What happens during chemical change?
Chemical bonds in the matter are broken and new bonds are formed
What happens to the atoms during chemical change?
The total number of atoms always stays the same, but number and type of molecules may change
Can a chemical change be easily reversed?
No, a chemical change cannot be usually reversed
What difference do new substances have to original substances?
Different chemical properties
What happens to the substances during a chemical change?
Some or all of the substances present at the start are not at the end
What are some examples of chemical change?
Corrosion, combustion, thermal decomposition, rotting, souring, burning, cooking, rusting, exploding and mixing bicarbonate soda with vinegar
