Chemical Calculations Flashcards
1
Q
How do you calculate Mr?
A
Add up all the masses of the individual elements
2
Q
How many grams is 1 mole of any substance?
A
The mass in g of one mole of an element is the same as the Mr of the element.
3
Q
What is the equation to find moles?
A
Number of moles = Mass / Mr
4
Q
How do you calculate percentage yield?
A
% Yield = (Actual yield / Theoretical yield) X 100
5
Q
How do you calculate the empirical formula?
A
Get your elements, then their combining mass/ % in g. Divide the combining mass by their Mr. This will come up with a ratio. If the ratio is 1:2 for eg it will be LiCO2.
