Chem/Phys QBank Flashcards
Hydroquinone
Quinone (also, benzoquinone)
Glucose
Frequency and wavelength are ____ proportional.
Inversely
Ie: If frequency increases by 2, then the wavelength will decrease by 2.
What is the photoelectric effect?
When light hits and excites electrons on the surface of a metal, and the electron ejects itself in the form of photoelectrons.
What’s the kinetic energy of an electron?
KE = hf (energy of the electron) - Work Function (energy threshold needed to surpass in order for an electron to be ejected)
A photon’s energy is higher than the ionization energy. What happens to the electron in the atom?
It will leave the atom with kinetic energy.
Because the energy (hf) of the photon surpasses the work function (ionization energy) which can be thought of as the threshold.
In terms of the aqueous layer in extraction processes, this layer contains what kind of molecules?
Charged.
Ie: When confronted with problems like this, first determine the charges of the compounds that are in question.
Ohm’s Law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the voltage across the two points (ie: V = IR).
Therefore, at the minimum resistance the current will be at it’s:
Maximum
This makes sense because with a higher resistance, less voltage will occur.
Anything wired in parallel will have a constant:
Voltage.
ie: they’ll have the same voltage
The voltmeter in a circuit measures the:
Change in voltage
Pyrophosphates have what two groups?
Two phosphates in a phosphorous-oxygen-phosphorous linkage.
Phosphatides have what two key components?
A phosphorus group and a choline head (nitrogen group).
What compound is this?
Phosphoric acid
