Chem/Phys Flashcards
Planck Equation (frequency)
E=hf
Angular momentum
L=nh/2pi
Energy of an electron
E=-Rh/n^2
Energy of an electron transition
E=-Rh(1/ni^2)-(1/nf^2)
Maximum number of electrons in a shell
2n^2
Maximum number of electrons within sub shell
4L+2
What is alpha decay?
Nucleus rejects an alpha particle (He nucleus)
What is beta negative decay?
Nucleus emit e- and anti neutrino in process that changes neutron to proton
What is beta positive decay?
Nucleus emits positron and neutrino in process that changes proton to neutron (positron emission)
What is gamma decay?
Nucleus decay by emission of an alpha or beta particle. Daughter nucleus is left in excited state and can decay to lower energy state by emitting a gamma ray photon.
What is the Henderson-Hasselbach equation?
pH=pKa + log ([HA]/[A-])
