Scientific method
Is a systematic approach used in a scientific study
Qualitative data
Information that describes the color, odor, shape, or any other physical characteristic
Quantitive data
numerical information that describes how small, how big, how tall, how fast something is
Hypothesis
a testable statement or prediction about what has been observed
Experiments
is a set of controlled observations that test the hypothesis
Independent variable
Is the variable you plan to change
Dependent variable
Its value changes depending on the change in the independent variable.
Control
is standarad for comparision
Conclusion
judgment based on the information obtained
Theory
Is an explanation of a natural phenomenon based on many observations and investigations over time
Scientific law
nature that is supported by many experiments
Base unit
is a defined unit in a system of measurement that is based in an object or event in the physical world.
Derived unit
A unit that is described by the combination of base units.
Dimensional analysis
Shows how close a measured value is to an accepted value
Precision
Refers to how close a series of measurements are to one another
