What is Chemistry?
It is the study of matter and the changes it undergoes.
What is Substance?
A substance, also known as a chemical, is a matter that has a definite composition
What is mass?
A measurement that reflects the amount of matter.
What is weight
Is a measure of mass and force if gravity on an object.
What is a Model?
A verbal, visual, or mathematical explanation of experimental data
What is Quantitative Data?
Quantitative data is obtained from numerical observations that describe how much, how little, or how fast
What is Qualitative Data?
Qualitative data is obtained from numerical observations that describe color, smell, shape, or some other physical characteristics that are related to the five senses.
What is a Hypothesis?
Is a statement made with current knowledge and understanding that can be tested in a controlled experiment.
What is a controlled expiriment?
A set of controlled observations that test the hypothesis by changing a single variable.
What is an independent variable?
A variable that you plan to change.
What is a Dependant variable?
A variable that changes in value in a response to a change of the independent variable.
What is a dependent variable?
A variable that changes in value in a response to a change of the independent variable.
What is scientific law?
A relationship in nature that is supported by many expiriments and no exceptions to these relationships are found.
What is scientific theory?
A well-substantianted explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment.
What is pure research?
Is research to gain knowledge for the sake or knowledge itself.
