A
  1. Name the first element and add a prefix (not mono)
  2. Name the second element, changing the ending to IDE and adding a prefix
    Ex: P4O10 = tetraphosphorus decaoxide

  1. Write the symbol for the first element, changing the prefix to a subscript
  2. Write the symbol for the second element, changing the prefix to a subscript
    Ex: carbon tetrachloride = CCl4(l)
