How is heritage portrayed?
The narrator is angry because he was prevented from learning about his own culture and he was aware of his heritage even though it is an important part to who he is.
By using metaphors, similes and vivid imagery when describing the black history because it is showing his admiration for his black history. It is also like he celebrating his history.

How do these quotes show heritage?
- He is proud of his culture which is Mary Seacole but she is less know than Florence Nightingale because she is taught more. This is probably because she was white.
- He would like to share his culture/history that he is proud of.
How is power portrayed?
The teachers abuse their power sharing history by only including certain historical characters.
What quotes show power?
‘Dem tell me what dem want to tell me’ ‘ Blind me to me own identity’
How do these show power?
- They only taught things that make the british look good (propaganda)
- Metaphor, they are making him blind to his own history. This metaphor shows us that he thinks society is ignoring black history and is also restricting him from his own history.
