So they have plenty of time to stop.
Tailgating can cause rear-end crashes
Changing Lanes and Passing
Only pass or change lanes when necessary
Check traffic ahead and behind
Keep a safe distance, don’t tailgate
Signal every lane change
Road Conditions
Diver more slowly when weather conditions are bad
The 3 second rule you should add 4 or more seconds
The changes of you hydroplaning increase as going faster
Reduced Visibility
When encountering poor roadway or weather conditions drivers should increase their following distance to 6 seconds.
With first or ice the motorist should always scrape and wipe the frost of the windows
Night Driving
At night a motorist should slow down and drive within the range of the vehicle’s headlights
A motorist should take note of their speed, reaction distance, and braking distance
Driving Situations
When driving on hills or bridges a motorist should always be on the lookout for sign of hazardous roads, including hills, dips, narrow bridges, bumps, and railroad tracks.
Reacting to Driving Problems
A driver needs to be prepared for any problems that may happen while driving.
When doing sudden turns, lane changes or hard braking it can throw a vehicle into a skid. To avoid a spin the motorist should turn in the way the vehicle is skidding.
