Q

Difficulties of using chariots

A
  • road networks were undeveloped - roads and bridges existed but not of a standard that would be comfortable to use, particularly at speed
  • the terrain is inhospitable (need to be prepared)
  • the cost, owning and maintaining of a chariot and horse would have been high - reserved for the elite

Q

Why is the use of chariots controversial?

A
  • would have been difficult to accurately use weapons on a bumpy chariot ride due to lack of flat land
  • if they did use them then it would have been used as a platform for throwing javelins or as a mean of transport to and from battles
