Q

what is an electrolyte and how does current form from it

A

an electrolyte, is a fluid that can conduct electrical current. the positive ions move to the cathode and the negative ions move to the anode. when the positive ions reach the cathode, they receive electrons. when the negative ions reach the anode, they donate electrons. so electrons can flow through the metal part of the circuit.

Q

what direction is conventional current and flow of electrons

A

conventional current is from the positive terminal to the negative terminal
the flow of electrons is from the negative terminal to the positive terminal

Q

what is the structure of a metal thought as and what is the nature of ions and electrons

A

the structure of a metal may be thought as a regular crystal structure or lattice of positive ions, surrounded by number of free electrons. the positive ions are not free to move, but they vibrate and fixed points - higher temperature will cause them to vibrate more vigorously.

Q

whats a way to make electrons move

A

make one end of a wire negative and the other end positive. the electrons in the wire will be attracted to the positive end, so they will move through the wire as current
