Lenny is often related to animals/bear as he has animal like characteristics he relates to animals better than humans

Curley is a small man and hates big men
Curly is a prize fighter and always likes to pick a fight with other ranch workers
Curley is newly-married he is very possessive of his wife but he still visits brothels

• Loneliness in candy-the old swamper
• Candies old dog-his only friend and companion candy shows loneliness after death of his dog
Candy gets very frustrated after Curly’s wife is dead as he knows that the dream is all shattered
