Jean Louise Finch
Also known as “Scout”. The narrator and protagonist of the story. She is a curious, intelligent, and tomboyish young girl who is just starting to understand the complexities of her world.
Jeremy Finch
Jeremy “Jem”: Scout’s older brother, who is protective of her and often acts as a leader in their adventures. He is more mature than Scout but still fascinated by the mystery of Boo Radley.
Atticus Finch
Scout and Jem’s father, a widowed lawyer who is morally upright, patient, and wise. He teaches his children important lessons about empathy and justice.
Calpurnia
The Finch family’s African American cook and caretaker. She is strict but caring and serves as a mother figure to Scout and Jem.
Charles Harris
“Dill”: A imaginative and adventurous boy who visits Maycomb in the summer. He becomes close friends with Scout and Jem and shares their fascination with Boo Radley.
Arthur Radley
“Boo”: A reclusive neighbor who becomes the subject of the children’s curiosity and fear. He is rumored to be a monster, but his true nature is slowly revealed.

Boo’s brother, who fills in the knothole with cement to stop the children’s interactions with Boo
