Dr Lanyon is Utterson’s and Jekyll’s childhood friend and colleague of Jekyll as he is a scientist. Him and Jekyll though fell out due to their ‘differences’ in science

Mr Guest is Utterson’s chief clerk and an expert in reading somone’s character from their handwriting. He identifies Hyde’s note to Jekyll’s.
