- Recurrent and persistent intrusive thoughts.
- Uncontrollable thoughts, images, worries, fears, doubts…

A
- Concern and upset caused because they understand their obsessions and compulsions are irrational but feel out of control to stop them.
- These persistent inappropriate ideas create excessively high levels of anxiety.

A
- Reduced energy levels leading to inactivity
- Reduced levels of social interaction with friends and family
- Reduce or increase in weight due to appetite changes
- Disturbed sleep patterns, insomnia or over sleeping
- Self harming behaviours such as cutting or suicide attempts

- Difficulty in paying or maintaining attention
- Slowed down thoughts/indecisive
- Thoughts of death and or suicide

- Avoidance behaviours
- Fight or flight response will become evident when confronted by the phobia
- Anxiety and avoidance responses are so extreme that they severely interfere with the ability to conduct everyday working and social functioning

-Realise phobia is irrational however isn’t able to control the irrational thoughts so the phobia becomes worse

- Experiencing excessive persistent fear
- Visible distress at sight of phobia object or situation
- Phobias produce an immediate fear response, even panic attacks, at the presentation of the phobia object or situation.

- Behaviour hinders everyday functioning (eg can’t go to work because of anxiety)
- Social impairment (anxiety limits ability to keep relationships)
- Unable to control their compulsive behaviours.
